Facts About Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
OCT is considered one of the most important technological breakthroughs in eye care in the past decade. OCT provides detailed images of the anatomical features of the front and back of the eye, including the cornea, retina, and optic disc.
Similar to an MRI or CT scan, OCT provides detailed images of the layers of the retina that are not visible using standard examination techniques or other tests. It also provides thickness mapping and shows changes over time to help detect disease.
This helps our doctors identify early signs of sight-threatening eye diseases.
Why would I want a iWellness Exam?
The iWellness Exam is state-of-the-art technology that lets our doctors see beneath the surface of your retina, where signs of disease first appear.
Traditional eye exams and retinal photography do not provide this level of detail. Did you know…
- Sight-threatening eye diseases often have no outward signs or symptoms in the early stages
- State-of-the-art technology can help our team see early signs of these diseases.
- Early detection and treatment of eye disease may reduce your risk of vision loss.
Regular iWellness exams can help our team detect signs of common eye diseases. These diseases are on the rise with the number of those impacted expected to double in the next 30 years. The effects of these diseases can be minimized through early detection and treatment.
